Long-time Central Florida vegan pop-up favorite, Earthy Picks, is opening a brick-and-mortar location just two blocks from Lake Eola in Downtown Orlando! Colombian transplant Tatiana Henao tells me, “it’s been a long journey,” but she could not be more thrilled at the prospect of sharing her Latin cuisine with a twist with even more folks!
Earthy Picks will have a fresh, warm, friendly vibe with several indoor and outdoor tables, plus a long bar for patrons to enjoy their various burritos, tacos, and bowls. Consider ordering their bestselling “Crazy About You” bowl, inspired by owner Tatiana’s love for both her home country's traditional Colombian cuisine and Mexican staples. This dish will come with warm rice, filling beans, carmelized sweet plantains, creamy avocado, crispy greens, savory vegan ground beef, bright sprouts, and a delicious cilantro sauce!
For those unfamiliar, Tatiana got her start in July 2020 as a booth at the Orlando Vegan Market. After attending a personal development retreat with a vegan menu in New York City back in 2013, Tatiana fell head over head for plant-based cuisine and began immersing herself into a more holistic, vegan lifestyle. After years of involvement with Florida’s food and hospitality scene, she developed a passion for cooking and creating experiences for others.
Eventually, her sister Yessica, who founded the Orlando Vegan Market, and her Orlando-based mother, Luz, convinced her to share her recipes with the Central Florida area through the market. “My mom pushed me since day 1,” Tatiana proudly tells me. Two and a half years later, the growth has been overwhelming. Tatiana, who got her start borrowing a table here and an awning there, now has amassed the capital needed to open up Downtown Orlando’s only Latin vegan brick-and-mortar eatery!
